Cathedral Cove Walk, Hahei Beach and Hot Water Beach are separated from Whitianga by 200m of water. The best East Coast beaches on the Coromandel Peninsula NZ are on the 'Cooks Beach side, while Whitianga has the services, shops, cafes, restaurants & The Lost Spring Thermal Pools! Ferry Landing Lodge (centre of image) is in the middle on the water's edge at historic Ferry Landing; just 10 mins drive to Hot Water Beach, Hahei Beach & Cathedral Cove walk & 100m walk with 2 min ferryboat ride to Whitianga village. ' Bed and breakfasts' provide a unique opportunity to spend time with a family in their own home. Each property will have unique features and hosts , their own charm! A B&B is very different from a hotel or motel. Motels provide kitchen facilities and B&B offer hosted accommodation.

We are not a motel but you will find a BBQ and additional facilities giving you more options around meal planning. There are NO kitchen sinks in our facilities. However a basin is provided and we wash the dishes for you.

** The Sunflower cottage, attached to the main house is ideal for couples with or without children. Apart from the smaller queen room downstairs, everything else is on the upper level. The (shared) bathroom is upstairs.

** The Bougainvillea suite is at the front of the property and is ideal for a couple or singles or 2 couples travelling together. A large (shared) bathroom, king and queen bedrooms plus small living area and large garden patio can be less expensive option than 2 individual suites.

** The Harbourview suite is suitable for a couple only and has a private bathroom. An outdoor deck off our main living area is specially reserved for guests.


The reservations page has an online calendar and if the accommodation you want is unavailable, you have the option of choosing something else. We do try and 'match' you with the best accommodation to suit your circumstances however this is not always possible. Its better for you to decide based on your personal circumstances.

Following in the footsteps of Captain James Cook, (visited this site in 1769), you will visit the oldest stone wharf in Australasia, (built 1837) & see evidence of Maori fortifications dating back 600 years! Rob was born in Whitianga, and is a direct descendant of the first European pioneer in Hahei, Robert Wigmore, who came from Ireland in 1841. His passion and enthusiasm for Hahei and the surrounding bays spring from a childhood spent on the family farm and beaches, once considered a remote part of New Zealand. As tourism to the region flourished, Rob has enjoyed sharing the beauty of the location, together with its unique history and geography, with countless visitors.

Rob's local knowledge and heritage is matched in enthusiasm by Pam's creativity in the kitchen and energy in the garden. From pickles and chutneys, to jams and marmalades, Pam puts a special taste of home in every breakfast. Fresh seasonal fruit from the garden accompanies homemade muesli and oven-baked muffins. When Pam isn't busy pruning or preserving, you'll find her reading, sewing, or knitting - or if Rob is willing - dancing! Together, they have 5 children and 9 grandchildren
